How do I actually make the thing?
Pencil and paper first. I've been using Canson mixed media paper for a while now. 9x12 90lb pages. It’s been pretty durable and handles gouache, ink, and other stuff pretty good.
After the pencils, comes the ink. I started using micron pens about four years or so ago. They are archival, come in amazing variety of sizes (the brush one is low key amazing), and last far longer than they ought to.
This image I had planned on bringing into the digital realm. I scanned it in and did some technomancy with Adobe Photoshop so it could be utilized for other purposes (more on the next article).
While I was working I recorded timelapse video of myself inking in the pencil drawing. I have been posting segments of this longer video on instagram. Accompanying the videos I have added a song by a lofi artist eluzai “Stompin Demons,” cool beat and appropriate title for a victorious Christ.
Enjoy.
